The TPPCF

July 4, 2006

Dear Honest Mail Receiver,

I want you to meet Bernard King. He is suffering from paper cuts and shortness of breath due to the weight of the fundraising mail he received today. You see, Mr. King doesn't have a whole lot of extra money. In fact, he sends in his bills two at a time because he can't afford the stamps to turn them in every month.

Soon Mr. King won’t even be able to do that. You see, the government allows for innumerable fundraising groups to send him solicitations repeatedly, so that he receives up to 6 times MORE requests for “donations” than for “remission of payment.” After only one additional year of this harassment, Mr. King is projected to snap and spend the rest of his days in a psychological detention facility.

This has got to stop, and the only one who can help is YOU.

The Tissue Paper Post Card Fund was founded in 2006 by a working mother of three. She saw how much waste went into printing letters alerting good-hearted and fearful citizens that the end of the world would come if they didn’t support their organizations.

She realized that sometimes money is necessary to effect change, but asking for it could be accomplished by a simple tissue paper post card. To that end, the TPPCF has been working steadily to eliminate wasteful mailings and establish efficiency in the charitable world.

Legislation will soon be presented to Congress to require tissue paper post cards to be used for fundraising of any form. Many representatives have expressed interest in supporting such a bill, but the TPPCF is dedicated to providing them with the information they will need to be confident that a “yes” vote is the right one.

Each legislative packet contains 17 different pieces and costs $157 to assemble. With 535 members of the U.S. Congress, that bill can add up quickly. We would like to get these packets out as soon as possible, and we need YOUR HELP.

We have received a generous matching gift up to $10,000 from an anonymous couple, so that your simple $10 gift will turn into $20 worth of mail waste elimination. But we NEED to meet our goal of $7500 by July 30 in order to receive this gift.

Even if you can’t help financially, we are counting on YOU to return the enclosed survey on mail waste and sign and address the enclosed post cards to your senators. Their votes on fundraising efficiency could make the difference between rainforests and desert, fuzzy animals and swarms of gnats!

Please don’t let Mr. King become a statistic. He is counting on you to keep his mailbox light and unobnoxious.

Blessings on you and yours,

Grace Moneypenny
President and C.E.O., Tissue Paper Post Card Fund

P.S. PLEASE return the enclosed survey today. We are working against the clock in legislating sensible fundraising; every week, millions of trees and heartstrings are destroyed by careless mailings.

P.P.S. Remember, the matching gift EXPIRES July 30! Your $15 can make $30 worth of difference!

It's sad that there are people going, "Wow, what a great idea!"

Does the "honest" in "Honest Mail Receiver" modify "mail" or "receiver"? Either way works, I think.

I thought TPPCF was a good idea...until I saw it was self-defeating. What if I mark it all as "Return to Sender"?
