Brown Envelope

I tripped happily across a sunny campus this morning to turn in my master's thesis. It was in a very professional-looking clear plastic folder, and I was confident that it would only need minor revisions before it is published.

"Is this your proposal or final thesis copy?"

"Uh, well, it's a full thesis copy but it isn't printed for binding."

"It needs to be in a brown envelope with a label with your name, thesis title, and a phone number where you can be reached."

You should have seen my face when she specified the envelope color. The final flaming hoop was before me. It seemed impossibly high.

I trudged back through the heat. The taupe-enshrouded document was submitted minutes later, but the moment was gone. Now it's all over but the expensive-paper-purchasing.

Oh, yes, those envelopes with the address and phone number information.

They never called me. : (

P.S. Like the new photo. Wonder where that was taken.
